GESUNDE ERDE
GESUNDE MENSCHEN

The climate crisis threatens the health of us all. That is why “Gesunde Erde Gesunde Menschen” (German for: Healthy Earth Healthy People) links medicine and climate science, politics and the public, care and sustainability.

Stiftung Gesunde Erde – Gesunde Menschen gGmbH | Berlin | 2020

The Gesunde Erde Gesunde Menschen Foundation was founded by Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen in March 2020. Its mission is to communicate the significance of climate change for human health and to show how we can keep the earth and people healthy thanks to sustainable living models. Because climate protection is always also health protection.

Problem

The climate crisis endangers the health and well-being of all of us, worldwide, but also especially in Germany. We felt this most recently with the flooding disaster in the summer of 2021. Due to its manifold effects on nature, society, the economy and our everyday lives, climate change is the greatest threat of the 21st century.

Solution

Network together, understand, change: Gesunde Erde Gesunde Menschen aims to explain the connection between climate and health to as many people as possible. They are working on this with founder Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen and an interdisciplinary team from communications, politics, health, sustainability and development cooperation in Berlin and Bonn. They illustrate how the climate crisis affects the body and psyche and provide helpful tools and lifehacks for everyone who wants to create a future worth living.

Why we support the project

The interdisciplinary team from communications, politics, health, sustainability and development cooperation in Berlin and Bonn creates multifaceted educational opportunities around climate protection, health and their interrelationships. In doing so, GEGM promotes awareness among the population in a simple, understandable and forceful manner. Because without a widespread rethinking among the population, there can be no saving of the climate.
